The story of this drama is about a king using diverse tactics and deception to retain his power. The King’s ministers too blindly approving all his acts in order to cling into the powers and wealth vested in them as the ministers of the King. The story uses the international folk story of ‘the king’s invisible cloth’ or ‘heavenly cloths’ as a parable.
Some foreign tailors dress up the king in a new attire supposed to be of the latest fashion. The ministers knowing well it is not real attire praise it eloquently. Flabbergasted, the king orders that the ministers also should be dressed up with the same attire. Reluctantly the ministers get dressed up in this high fashioned magical attire. Then the ministers propose that the citizens also should be provided with the same dress. The king approves the proposal considering that it is not expensive and orders that the citizens also should be dressed up in the same attire. The citizens protest the move. So the king orders a slight change to the dress for the citizens.
